Abstract

1,028,134. Piezoelectric crystals. V. IANOUCHEVSKY. Feb. 24, 1964 [Feb. 23, 1963], No. 7548/64. Heading H1E. The electrodes of a quartz thickness-shear mode plate resonator are offset from each other about the X-axis in such a manner that a field is produced Which lies oblique to the faces of the plate and parallel to the Y-axis. The plate shown is a - 35 degrees rotated Y-cut and is furnished with electrodes 11, 12, which give rise to signal field components at right-angles and parallel to the faces of the plate, the resultant r lying parallel to the Y-axis. The plate may be square or circular, with flat or biconvex surfaces. A square or circular area devoid of electrodes may be left in the centre of the plate. The inductance of the resonator may be adjusted by altering the dimensions of this area. Alternatively, the electrodes may be confined to the central area of the plate.
