Abstract

948,889. Electromechanical filters. SIE-. MENS & HALSKE A.G. June 19, 1962 [June 20, 1961], No. 23639/62. Addition to 919,581. Heading H3U. An electromechanical filter comprises a series of flat, elongated resonators 1, 2, 3... coupled at nodal points by at least one coupling member 5 and transducers consisting of plates 4, 5 of electrostrictive material, e.g. barium titanate, arranged on opposite faces of at least one of the resonators in the nodal region. The pairs of electrostrictive plates are electroded on their major surfaces and are driven in parallel, a common connection being made to the intervening resonator. The parallel arrangement of the transducers produces longitudinal vibration without flexure. The resonators and couplers may be stamped out of a single sheet of metal.
