Abstract
1,028,094. Making electronic grids. SIEMENS AND HALSKE A.G. Sept. 18, 1964 [Sept. 19, 1963], No. 38114/64. Heading B3A. [Also in Division H1] Cylindrical mesh grid electrodes for a discharge tube (see Division H1) are produced by forming a seamless tube with reinforced edges by a drawing and pressing process, mounting the tube, on a dividing head, over a mandrel bearing a matrix corresponding to the desired mesh pattern, and stamping out the apertures with externally mounted mating cutting punches, the tube being both displaceable axially, and rotatable, such that the apertures are stamped in sequence one beside the other either axially, or round successive adjacent peripheral circles on the tube. A plurality of axially arranged matrices and cutting punches may be employed. A variety of axially and diagonally aligned arrays of rectangular apertures are described (Figs. 2 to 5, not shown).
