Abstract

A cyclic olefine containing at least five carbon atoms per molecule, or mixtures thereof, is esterified with a monoalkyl ester of a polycarboxylic acid, said acid containing at least four carbon atoms per molecule, in the presence of a Lewis acid. It is desirable to employ a molar excess of olefine over the free carboxyl groups of the ester reactant and an inert solvent.
