A basic oxygen converter support comprises a trunnion ring 9 slidably held between two rings 16, 21 attached to the converter outer shell 7 and is characterized in that the converter is held at all working temperatures by resilient members 26, welded to the trunnion ring 9 and engaging the rings 16, 21. Expansion gap 14 between the converter and trunnion ring and gap 27 between the resilient means and the rings 16, 21 are provided together with stop means formed from a projection 29 bearing against the resilient part 28 to limit the radial movement of the converter.
