Abstract

1,027,182. Heating or cooling liquids in bulk. DISTILLERS CO. Ltd. June 27, 1963 [July 5, 1962], No. 25740/62. Heading F4S. A fermentation or like vessel having a relatively thick wall 1 is constructed to enable the temperature of a fluid therein to be controlled by providing within the vessel a relatively thin inner wall 2 deformable under the pressure of fluid in the vessel and supported by the outer wall 1, the wall 2 being so shaped as to provide between the two walls passages 4 through which a heating or cooling fluid is passed. The walls may be cylindrical and secured together by welding or bolts. The inner wall 2 may be of stainless steel and may, as shown, be corrugated to provide the passages 4.
