Abstract

An element for removing noxious vapours and odours from air or gases is prepared by forming a flat cellular (honeycombe) structure from strips of corrugated resinated paper, placing granules of activated carbon in each cell, and then bonding fabric net having a mesh size smaller than the granule size to each of the two faces of the honeycomb structure. A frame of plastic material (e.g. surplus bonding material) is arranged around the sides of the honeycomb and has embedded in it or stuck to it the margins of the fabric nets.ALSO:A filter element for removing noxious vapours and odours from air or gases, or for filtering liquids, is prepared by bonding the plane roots of a strip of appropriately-corrugated resinated paper 1, Fig. 1, (not shown) to the plane peaks of an immediately succeeding strip and repeating the process so that a honeycomb structure is formed: (such a structure is commonly available); granules of activated carbon 3 are accommodated in each cell 2; fabric net 4 having a mesh size smaller than the granule size is then bonded to the two faces of this honeycomb structure and a frame of plastic material 5 (e.g. surplus bonding material) is arranged around the sides of the honeycomb and has embedded in it or stuck to it the margins of the fabric nets.
