102,652. Herbert, A., and Milburn, J. March 8, 1916. Microscopes.-A machine for measuring lengths, angles, pitches, &c., particularly of screws, hobs, templets, &c., comprises a work table B capable of longitudinal movement upon a bed A through exact distances measured by the use of gauge-pieces inserted between contact points A<2>, B<2> at the ends of the bed and table respectively, and a microscope D fitted with hair-lines and carried by a compound slide-rest C, of which the traversing-screws are provided with micrometer attachments C<4>, C<5>. In addition to a fixed hair-line (not shown), the microscope is provided with a rotatable hair-line 2 carried by a rotatable graduated dial D<2> on the microscope D, which can itself be turned in the clamp by which it is carried on the slide-rest C.
