Abstract

Apparatus for removing scum from a tank includes a blade 24 on the surface of a liquid in the tank, jets 28, 32 which urge the scum to collect at the blade and to be forced through an opening 18 in the tank to a second tank 16 and a passage 20 from the second tank, below the opening to the first tank. Additionally there may be provided at least one further jet 34 in the opening 18 directed towards the second tank. As shown, jets 28 on one side of the blade are at right angles thereto and jets 32 on the other side are parallel thereto. A float 26 may be provided at the end of the blade.
