Abstract

1,026,320. Direct-contact heat-exchangers. H. STAGE. June 19, 1964 [June 24, 1963], No. 25452/64. Heading F4K. [Also in Division B1] A ceramic trickle column element 1 comprises an open-ended casing 5, partition walls 3 defining flow ducts 4 extending from end to end through the casing, one or both ends of the element having projecting portions to provide irregular abutment surfaces 2. Fig. 2 shows a number of elements, formed by an extrusion process, one above the other forming an exchanger column, the upper abutment surfaces of the elements having a castellated form to form openings 6, thereby allowing gaseous and liquid phases to pass between the ducts. The ends of the casings 5 may as shown also be of irregular form if several such columns are arranged side-by-side.
