Abstract

1,026,275. Laminates. BADISCHE-ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. Feb. 11, 1963 [Feb. 20, 1962], No. 5392/63. Heading B5N. A heat insulating and fireproof laminate is made by bonding a sheet of metal to a sheet consisting of an alkali metal silicate, e.g. sodium silicate, 20 to 70% by weight of water and 10 to 40% by weight of fibres such as glass fibres or rock wool (percentages with reference to anhydrous silicate) by pressure at a temperature between 50‹ and 150‹ C. The silicate layer may be bonded to one or both sides of the metal sheet, or a metal sheet may be bonded to both sides of the silicate layer. The sheets may be bonded together using waterglass as an adhesive.
