Abstract
1,025,830. Roof domes. SOFIA S.A. Jan. 7, 1965 [Jan. 30, 1964], No. 667/65. Heading E1J. A roof dome construction comprises an acrytic plastics dome 3 having a peripheral edge portion or flange 2 extending over a wall support 1, a resilient packing 4 of open or closed cellular structure e.g. polyurethane sponge or sponge rubber respectively, fitted between the flange 2 and the wall 1 and a rigid compressing device 5 engaging the wall 1 and the flange 2 to partially compress the packing so as to support the dome in a floating condition. The part of the device 5 adjacent the flange may comprise a ball fitting so that as the flange 2 moves due to expansion of the dome, the ball rides over the flange. Alternatively the ball may be replaced by a sliding contact or by a resilient pad. In the case of a double dome, a packing is provided between the domes.
