Abstract

1,025,823. Generating quasi-random digits. C.S.F.-COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. Jan. 30, 1963 [Jan. 31, 1962], No. 3924/63 Heading G4D. Quasi-random digits are generated on leads C1-C5 from binary digits representing letters in clear stored in M and from apparatus A10 described in Specification 1,008,390. The digits on C1-C5 are used as a key to encipher a message. Substantially as described in said earlier Specification a clock pulse generator H supplies clock pulses to main advance counters C1-C5 of different radius, selected output terminals of which feed assemblies of decoders, permutators, OR-gates and AND-gates A1- A6. The outputs of A1-A6 are combined with different sets of clock pulses from H to control auxiliary counters K1-K6 and therefor decoders A7-A9. Further clock-pulses from H control further auxiliary counters K7-K9, the first of which is also controlled by permuted combinations of the letters in clear through OR-gates O1-O3. Finally, apparatus described in Specification 924,382 operates on the signals from A10 and M to give the output signals on leads L1-L5.
