Abstract

In the continuous casting of rimming steel, ferrophosphorus is added immediately prior to or during tapping and the steel is then subjected to vacuum treatment prior to casting. The addition of ferrophosphorus may be such as to increase the phosphorus content of the steel by 0.02-0.04%.
