Abstract

1,025,410. Sewing machines. SIMPSON and GODLEE Ltd [trading as CARR PARKER & CO]. Oct. 19, 1964 [Oct. 19, 1963], No. 41395/63. Heading D1G. A hemming attachment for a sewing machine comprises a carrier provided with two folding devices for producing different widths of hem and movable between a position where one of said devices is operative to a position where the other device is operative, the attachment having means for locating the carrier in a selected one of said positions. A base plate 1 fixedly carries a bolt having a lower threaded portion 2 adapted to screw into the sewing machine bed 3, and an upper pivot position 2a. A carrier 4, pivoted on portion 2a, has oppositely-extending arms 5, 6 to which arms 9, fixed to respective folding devices 7, 8, are adjustably fixable by screw-and-slot connections 10. Carrier 4 abuts a stop 12 fixed to plate 1, and is held in position by a weight 13 slidable on pivot 2a. To change the operative position of the folding devices, weight 13 is raised, when carrier 4 is raised clear of stop 12, turned through 180 degrees, and lowered to re-engage stop 12.
