Abstract

1,025,353. Phase detector circuits. LONDON ELECTRICITY BOARD, and B. F. STENNING. Aug. 8, 1962 [May 8, 1961], No. 16652/61. Heading H3A. Two voltages are applied at T1, T2 to reactive arms C1, C2 of a star network with star point P connected to a common point T3 by an opposite type reactance so that the voltages across C1, C2 are in phase quadrature with the inputs, and voltages proportional to the phase quadrature voltages are derived through resistances R1, R2 shunting the reactances C1, C2 and differentially combined and rectified by a bridge D1-D4 so that a meter M across the bridge indicates the phase difference and sense of the phase difference between the two inputs. The capacitors C1, C2 may be replaced by inductors and the inductor L by a capacitor, or only one of the arms T 1 P, T2P may contain reactance. The meter M may be a two-coil ratiometer type.
