Abstract

1,024,968. Stencilling apparatus. ATA TEXTILE CO. Ltd. Sept. 1, 1964, No. 35750/64. Heading B6C. A silk-screen stencilling machine comprises a fixed frame 2, 4, Fig. 1, having tracks 6, 8 and a carriage 10 reciprocably mounted on the frame and having rollers 9 engaging the tracks 6, 8. The carriage also includes side frame members 12 (Fig. 4, not shown) and 14, each having a cam surface 14<SP>1</SP>, and a screen 24, Fig. 2, adapted to support a stencil 46. The machine also comprises an ink applicator in the form of a sector 32 of a cylinder, a drive shaft 26 which mounts the sector 32 and end discs 28, 30, and a roller follower 34 mounted on each disc 28, 30. Each roller 34 engages a cam surface 14<SP>1</SP> such that rotation of the shaft 26 effects displacement of the carriage 10 to the left from the carriage position of Fig. 1 during which a card 50, fed into the machine below the screen and stencil but above the spring-mounted impression roller 38, is printed. During this movement the sector 32, previously inked through contact with inking rollers 42, 44 rolls in contact with the top surface of the screen 24 thereby pressing ink through the screen and stencil on to the card. Feed and delivery rollers 52, 54 and 56 58 are driven from the shaft 26 through gearing 60, 62 and 66. At the end of the printing stroke the carriage 10 is returned to the position of Fig. 1 by springs 35, 36.
