Abstract

Cosmetics comprise as an additive for the prevention of skin irritation 0.02 to 0.1% by weight of 1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-4, 5-diphenyl-imidazole. (The preparation of this compound is described in Specification 976,530.) Examples illustrate the incorporation of the imidazole compound in cold cream, vanishing cream and face lotions. The use of 4, 5-diphenyl-imidazole is also described, for purposes of comparison.
