Abstract

Pharmaceutical compositions for the treatment of skin diseases comprise resorcinol monosalicylate and a physiologically-acceptable pharmaceutical carrier, the compositions being in the form of lotions, creams, ointments, emulsions, pastes, gels or dusting powders. The carrier may comprise known topical medicaments. Examples describe formulations of resorcinol monosalicylate with (1) a mixture of wool alcohols and paraffins (2) and (3) emulsifying ointment B.P. with and without methyl p-hydroxy benzoate, (4) polyethylene glycols and hexane-1 : 2 : 6-triol, (5) with salicylic acid, iso-propyl alcohol, citric acid, glycerol and water, (6) with hexachlorophene, methyl p-hydroxy benzoate, isopropyl alcohol, propylene glycol and methyl cellulose powder; (7) with zinc oxide and starch powder, and (8) with zinc oxide and emulsifying ointment B.P.
