Abstract

1,024,020. Intermittent gearing. HOLLYMATIC CORPORATION. Sept. 19, 1963 [Oct. 4, 1962], No. 36900/63. Heading F2Q. In a mechanism for intermittently moving a pivoted plate 57 to actuate a switch 60 controlling a conveyer belt of a patty moulding machine (see Division B5) after selectively predetermined movements of a driving member 50, the driving member is advanced stepwise from a selectively located stop 42 to a position in which a pin 62 thereon deflects the plate 57, the location of the stop determining the number of steps, and is then returned to its initial position. The stop 42, on a member 39, is selectively located by a knob 38 and held in the selected position by a spring ball detent 56 engaging a sprocket 40 formed on the member 39. A spiral spring 68 urges a pin 53 on the member 50 against the stop 42. A fixed pin 44 is engageable by a pin 43 on the member 39 to limit the rotation of the knob 38. A pin 31 steps a sprocket 52 formed on the member 50 one tooth-pitch for each revolution of a continuously driven shaft 25, until the pin 62 reaches a position in which it deflects the spring-loaded plate 57 far enough to actuate the switch 60. The pin 62 is retained by engagement with a recess 64 in the plate 57 until a cam 34 on the shaft 25 further deflects the plate 57 to release it, the spring 68 then returning the initial position, in which the pin 53 contacts the stop 42. During the stepped advance of the member 50, back-running is prevented by engagement of the sprocket 52 by an edge of the plate 57. With the knob 38 in an extreme position, a pin 61 on the member 39 holds the plate 57 in the position holding the switch 60 closed, the cam 34 then passing to one side of the plate 57.
