Abstract

1,023,726. Hydraulic accumulators. V. LANGEN. Feb. 11, 1965, No. 5958/65. Heading F1P. In an hydraulic accumulator, Fig. 1 (not shown) comprising two shell halves 1, 2 pushed one inside the other to clamp the edge of a flexible diaphragm 5 therebetween, the contacting surfaces 1a, 2a of the shells form part of the surface of a cone so that the outer diameter of the flexible diaphragm 5 is of smaller diameter than the minimum diameter of the contacting surfaces. The inner shell has a shoulder 14 which abuts the peripheral edge 12 of the outer shell 2 and is welded thereto. Alternatively the contacting surfaces of the shells may be secured together by adhesive. To avoid damaging the diaphragm during welding of the shells, coolant may be circulated through a passage formed between the contacting surfaces of the shells (Fig. 2, not shown).
