Abstract

Fibrous material e.g. wood shavings, glass fibre or paper, is pressed to form planks between platens of aluminium alloy containing copper and one or more of silicon, lithium, magnesium, manganese, nickel, titanium or cadmium. The preferred proportion of copper is 1-10% and of the other constituents less than 3% each. The pressing may be performed at above 200 DEG C.
