Abstract

1,023,463. Column and beam connections. SANDERS & FORSTER Ltd., and M. H. BRIGGS. Aug. 15, 1963, No. 32363/63. Heading E1V. A stanchion comprises a stanchion shaft, or a section 13 thereof (Figs. 4 and 8), having at its upper end a cap 30 having a spigot and socket engagement with the shaft or section 13, the end of which fits into a socket on the cap 30, and having means to attach one or more beams such as 34, 35, 36, or bracing 41. There may be at least two aligned sections or storeyheight stanchion shafts 11, 12, 13 (Figs. 4 and 5) with a coupling 20 therebetween making spigot-and-socket engagement therewith and having means to attach one or more beams such as 26, 28, 29 or bracing. The or each cap 30 or coupling 20 comprises a plate 31 or 21 perpendicular to the shaft axis having on one or each face a collar 32 or 22 and 23 to form a socket or sockets and providing the attachment means or part thereof. A plate or plates 40 project(s) from the or each socket in a plane parallel to the shaft axis to attach a bracing 41.
