Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of formula <FORM:1022936/C2/1> wherein R is a b -(N-carbobenzoxy-L-alanyl-hydrazide) group, a C5-6 cycloalkyl group, or a C1-6 alkyl group optionally substituted by a halogen atom or a hydroxy, alkoxy, aryl, amino or acylamino group, the acyl group being the radical of a C1-9 aliphatic carboxylic acid or an aryloxycarbonyl, benzoyl, nicotinoyl or isonicotinoyl group, and their preparation by etherification of the free a -hydroxyethylamides with an alcohol ROH in the presence of an acid at 50 DEG to 120 DEG C., and hydrolysis of the salt formed. The compounds of the invention have psychogenic or psychomimetic activity and may be used in pharmaceutical compositions in combination with a carrier, for example in forms suitable for oral or parenteral administration, such as pills, tablets, capsules, suspensions or elixirs.
