Abstract

1,022,513. Bobbins. CURTIS (ENGINEERS) Ltd. Dec. 8, 1964 [Jan. 31, 1964], No. 4178/64. Heading B8M. A flanged bobbin comprises a tubular body 10, the ends of which are of reduced thickness to form external shoulders against which flanges 11 abut, the ends of the body 10 then being turned back to form retaining lips 18 which are held against the respective flange by plugs 12 having a central bore 23 to accommodate a spindle. The tubular body 10 is preferably precision drawn aluminium alloy tubing and the flanges compression moulded plastics material. The plugs 12 are preferably of polypropylene and are provided with concentric inner and outer sleeves 21, 20 which may be spaced by radial spokes, Fig. 3, not shown. Apertures may be provided in the plugs 12 for the selective reception of balancing plugs.
