Abstract
A soft soldering process for aluminium and aluminium based alloys comprises applying to the surfaces a solvent free soldering medium comprising reaction compounds of resins with carbonates, oxides or hydroxides of metals below aluminium in the electromotive series and/or salts of such metals with fatty acids containing more than 15 carbon atoms in the chain, or mixtures of such salts. The soldering medium may consist of a paste of copper resinate containing a fatty acid and a cadmium stearate and containing more than 50% organic metal salts. A further example is a medium consisting of molten beeswax and zinc carbonate. The soldering metal used may contain by weight 20-30 parts tin, 15-25 parts lead, 8-20 parts zinc.
