Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:1021943/C2/1> wherein Ph represents phenyl and R represents C1 to C4 alkyl, C3 to C6 cycloalkyl, benzy or b -phenylisopropyl and a process for the preparation thereof comprising reacting a compound of the general formula <FORM:1021943/C2/2> wherein X represents chlorine or bromine, with an amine of the formula RNH2 optionally in the presence of a solvent. After reaction the mixture is filtered, the filtrate extracted with dilute aqueous acid solution, the extract made alkaline and the precipitated solid recovered. The compounds of the invention are an algesics and hypotensive agents and can be employed orally, intravenously or intramuscularly per se or admixed with a non-toxic, pharmaceutical, liquid or solid carrier and administered in the form of tablets, solutions, suspensions or emulsions.
