Abstract
1,021,141. Heating and cooling buildings. LUWA A.G. Jan. 2, 1963 [Jan. 9, 1962], No. 238/63. Heading F4U. Two zones A and B to be air conditioned are provided with air conditioning appliances 1 to which water is circulated from a system common to both zones and from systems individual to the zones. The common system comprises a heatexchanger 9 and a pump 8 circulating water through pipes 3 and valves 2 to the appliances 1, the water returning through pipes 5a and 5b for recirculation. The heat-exchanger 9 is connected to a refrigeration system to cool the water circulated by the pump 8. An expansion vessel 11 is connected to the system by a pipe 10. Each zone has an individual water system comprising pumps 12a and 12b drawing water from the return pipes 5a and 5b and passing it through heat exchangers 13a and 13b to heat the water which passes to the valves 2 of the appliances 1 from which it passes to the return pipes 5a and 5b. The valves 2 determine the proportions of hot and cold water passed through the appliances 1. The heating and cooling heat-exchangers may be reversed so that the common circuit supplies hot water and the individual circuits cold water.
