Body attachments, inflatable; inflating.-A continuous inflatable life-belt has a flat portion b of india-rubber &c., forming about one-tenth of the circumference, in order to enable the belt to be readily slipped on. The belt may be made by placing together two annular pieces of indiarubber, &c., causing them to adhere for about one-tenth of their circumference, binding the edges of the remainder to form an inflatable tube a, and covering the tube a with fabric, which is secured by adhesive at the ends d. The inflation pipe c is preferably fitted with a non-return air valve, which can be opened by pressing a lever &c. to allow air to pass out.
