Abstract

1,020,673. Clay pipes; pipe joints. HEPWORTH IRON CO. Ltd. Jan. 12, 1965, No. 1299/65. Headings F2G and F2P. Clay piping comprises plain-end pipe-lengths 1, 1A of round cross-section and sleeves 3 of slightly resilient synthetic plastics material of an internal plastics material of an internal diameter such that they are a force-fit over the ends of the pipe-lengths, each sleeve being provided with one or more small integral, internal projections 5 at its middle for centralizing the sleeve on an adjacent pair of pipe ends. An adhesive and/or filler material may be applied to the pipe-ends before application of or into the sleeves; or a mastic may serve as a lubricant/filler; a dried coating may be provided and rendered semi-liquid or sticky by a solvent or heat.
