Abstract
1,020,555. Subaqueous foundations. LAWRENCE-COLEBROOK (CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT) CO., Ltd. Aug. 10, 1964 [Nov. 8, 1963], No. 44210/63. Heading E1H. A prefabricated building foundation structure for underwater use, e.g. as a lighthouse tower comprises at least one initially hollow stem 1 provided at its lower extremity on the external surface thereof with downwardly extending guide tubes 3 arranged to receive and guide piles 5 and through which the piles are driven. The stem 1 is surrounded by a ring beam 7 which is provided with guide sleeves 6 (Fig. 3, not shown) through which piles 5 from the guide tubes pass. The stem is provided at its lower extremity with a ballast chamber 2. The method of erecting the foundation is disclosed in the specification. When the foundation is in position with all piles driven in, the inside of the piles, pile guide tubes 3 and stem 1 are reinforced with steel and filled with concrete (Fig. 1h, not shown).
