Abstract

1,020,471. Metal channels and joints; partitions; embedded securing means for concrete structures. W. NICHOLLS. Jan. 24, 1964 [Jan. 26, 1963], No. 3344/63. Headings E1K and E1V. [Also in Divisions A4 and F2] Anchor-nuts 12 (see Division F2) for co operation with bolts 13 are used with channel members 10 in frameworks, scaffolding, racks and shelving. The channels 10 may be set in concrete, Fig. 4 (not shown), with embracing C-shaped brackets clamped about them by bolts and also embedded for anchoring, for attaching shelving. Hardboard or plasterboard partition panels 30, 31, Fig. 3, may be slid between two spaced channels 10, locating in grooves formed by narrow portions 22 of the channels and secured by U-brackets 32 (or a channel of similar section) and bolts 13. The widest part of the channel may receive electric cables. The nuts 12, Fig. 2, bear wires 15 mounted in grooves and with portions 16 spaced from the nut to grip resiliently the lapped flanges defining the channel slot. The ends of the nut engage the inner side faces of the outer wide portion of the channel member so that the nut cannot rotate and when the bolt is tightened the hard wire is embedded in the channel flanges and in a member, such as an angle member, Fig. 1 (not shown), bolted to the channel. The embedding of the wires 15 prevents the bolted member sliding along the channel and the flanges of the channel from moving apart.
