Abstract

A cathode heater has an insulating coating covered by a layer of uranium oxide for good heat radiation. This layer may be formed by dipping a tungsten heater, having a sintered aluminium oxide coating, in a solution of uranium nitrate, which decomposes to uranium oxide when heated.
