Abstract

1,020,199. Buoys. BORG-WARNER CORPORATION. Jan. 8, 1965, No. 1027/65. Heading B7A. A buoy comprises a base 10 (Figs. 2 and 4, not shown) of resilient material having a flat bottom 12 with a peripheral wall 14 and a hollow core 16, forming a chamber for buoyant material 20 (e.g. foam, air balls or air) closed by a removable cover 22, a socket member 13 in the core, and a standard 9 extending through the socket with a portion 32 projecting above the socket serving as a flag pole and a portion 45 projecting below the base supporting a stabilizer 48 of plastic material. A weighting means connected to the stabilizer may comprise a weight (shown chain dotted in Fig. 4) suspended from the tube 45 or a weight 50 housed therein.
