Abstract

1,020,038. Electromechanical filters. MULLARD Ltd. Nov. 25, 1963, No. 46456/63. Heading H3U. A frequency selective filter comprises a flexible magnetizable reed 1, a core 6 for alternately magnetizing the reed in opposite directions upon the application of an alternating electrical input at terminals 7 and permanent or electromagnets 4, 5 to cause the reed to vibrate in synchronism with the alternating magnetization thereof, the reed 1 being secured at one end to a mass 2 to which its vibrations are transmitted and the mass carrying a ceramic piezo-electric transducer 8 from which an output can be derived. The reed has a natural resonant frequency; alternating currents of this frequency applied to terminals 7 cause a largeamplitude vibration of the reed and a corresponding large-amplitude output from the transducer 8.
