Abstract

Sulphur modified polychloroprene latex is peptised in the presence of an alkali metal salt of formaldehyde sulphoxylate. The sulphoxylate may be present in the proportion, to dry rubber, of 1% or less. The latex may be peptized with a tetra-alkyl thiuram disulphide with or without a secondary amine such as diethylamine or a dialkyl dithiocarbamate.
