Abstract

Linalool is made from 2-pinanol by a process which comprises passing a mixture of 2-pinanol and water, preferably in the ratio 1 : 7 to 1 : 10 by weight, through a heated column which is at 450 DEG to 600 DEG C., preferably 500-550 DEG C., and which is advantageously packed, e.g. with soda glass beads. The examples refer.
