Abstract

A disinfectant detergent composition comprises (a) a non-ionic or cationic surface active addition product derived from ethylene oxide and an organic compound containing an active hydrogen atom attached to an oxygen, nitrogen or sulphur atom, e.g. hydroxyl, amino, imino, carboxyl, carboxamide or sulphydryl groups, the molar ratio of the ethylene oxide to the organic compound being 5-30:1, (b) a microbiocidal quaternary ammonium, phosphonium or arsonium compound and (c) a microbiocidal iso-thio-uronium compound and/or a microbiocidal N-alkyl, N-alkylaryl or N-alkyl-benzyl-guanidinium compound. Specified microbiocidal "onium" compounds are dodecyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride, cetyl pyridinium bromide, octadecyl-trimethyl-ammonium bromide, p - diisobutyl phenoxyethoxy - ethyl-dimethyl-benzyl ammonium chloride, dodecyl-tris - b cyanoethyl - phosphonium bromide and dodecyl - dimethyl - benzyl - phosphonium chloride. Specified isothiouronium and guanidinium compounds are tetrapropylene-benzyl-isothiouronium - chloride, dodecyl isothiouronium bromide N - dodecyl - guanidium acetate and S - cocosalkyl - isothiouronium-chloride. Reference is made to compounds (a) which are addition products of lauryl alcohol, oleyl alcohol tri-tert-butyl-phenol and nonyl phenol. Fillers, e.g. alkali metal tripolyphosphates, acid or neutral pyro- or orthophosphates, alkali metal silicates, sodium sulphate, alkali metal borates, cellulose ethers, urea, polyvinyl alcohol, polyglycols or bleaching agents may be added. The compositions of the invention show good brightening effects when used to wash wollen, polyester and polyamide fabrics. The compositions may be used in aqueous form.ALSO:A disinfectant detergent composition comprises (a) a non-ionic or cationic surface active addition product derived from ethylene oxide and an organic compound containing an active hydrogen atom attached to an oxygen, nitrogen or sulphur atom, e.g. hydroxyl, amino, imino, carboxyl, carboxamide or sulphydryl groups, the molar ratio of the ethylene oxide to the organic compound being 5-30: 1(b) a microbiocidal quaternary ammonium, phosphonium or arsonium compound and (c) a microbiocidal iso-thiouronium compound and/or a microbiocidal N-alkyl, N-alkylaryl or N-akylbenzylguanidinium compound. Specified microbiocidal "anium" compounds are dodecyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride, cetyl pyridinium bromide, octadecyl-trimethyl-ammonium bromide, p-dusobutyl phenoxyethoxy-ethyl-dimethyl-benzyl ammonium chloride, dodecyl-tris-b -cyanoethylphosphonium bromide and dodecyl-dimethylbenzyl-phosphonium chloride. Specified isothiouronium and guanidinium compounds are tetrapropylene-benzyl-isothiouroniumchloride, dodecyl is othiouronium bromide N-dodecyl-guanidinium acetate and S-cocasalkyl-isothiouronium-chloride. Reference is made to compounds (a) which are addition products of laurylalcohol, oleyl alcohol tri-tert-butyl-phenol and nonyl phenol. Fillers e.g. alkali metal tripolyphosphates, acid or neutral pyro or orthophosphates, alkali metal silicates, sodium sulphate, alkali metal borates, cellulose ethers, urea, polvinyl alcohol, polyglycols or bleaching agents may be added. The compositions of the invention show good brightening effects when used to wash woollen, polyester and polyamide fabrics.
