Abstract

1470332 Bleaching and dry-cleaning composition PPG INDUSTRIES Inc 16 April 1974 [16 April 1973 6 Nov 1973] 16681/74 Heading C5D [Also in Division D1 A liquid composition for cleaning fabrics comprises a water-immiscible organic solvent containing an anionic detergent and a minor amount of a distinct aqueous phase containing 0À005- 4À000% hydrogen peroxide based on the weight of fabrics treated. A rinse composition comprises a water-immiscible organic solvent containing an anionic detergent, and is applied to reduce the hydrogen peroxide remaining in a cleaned fabric to an acceptable level. The dry cleaning solvent may be halogenated or non- halogenated, perchloroethylene being preferred. The detergent is preferably a phosphate ester of an ethylene oxide/alkylphenol or ethylene oxide/ aliphatic alcohol adduct in acid or alkali metal salt form. Preferably the same solvent and detergent formulation is used for both bleaching and rinsing.
