Abstract

101,806. Glissenti, A. Jan. 6,1916. Propelling. -- Loss of thrust is avoided in aerial screw propellers by mounting in front of, or, as shown behind, an ordinary propeller 2, a paddle-wheel 8 having inclined vanes which tend to divert all fluid acted upon by the propeller 2 into an axial direction. The hollow shaft 3 of the paddlewheel is mounted to turn on the main shaft 1, and may be used for driving purposes.
