[Also in Division H5] A sheet of X-ray film is packaged between two sheets of light-impervious paper, a tape coated with a heat-sealing adhesive being heated and applied to the four package edges. Alternatively, the film may be placed inside a folded sheet and the tape applied to the three open edges. The tape extends beyond the package corners and may have a rip-strip incorporated in the extension. In a further embodiment, a strip of X-ray film is fed between two webs of light-impervious paper, heat-sealing adhesive tape being drawn from two reels to seal adjacent edges of the webs. The tube thus formed may be cut into lengths and the transverse edges similarly sealed; or the strip package may be rolled on the reel. An adhesive activated by applying a solvent or plasticizer may be used in place of a heat-sealing adhesive, but in either case the adhesive is of the delayedsetting type. The seam of the package in roll form may be opened either by tearing apart the outer webs, or by pulling a rip-strip in the fold of the edge-binding tape. One, or a pair, of intensifying screens may be included or formed on the interior of the packaging material.
