Abstract
1,017,387. Shelf brackets. R. J. KORESKA. Oct. 23, 1962, No. 40014/62. Heading A4B. A shelf bracket comprises a sheet metal part 1, 2 having rearwardly projecting hooks 3, 4 engaging an apertured upright 5, means at one or both sides of the sheet part 1 for supporting the end of a shelf adjacent the side or sides, and a flange 11, 12, 13 along at least the front edge of the sheet part 1, 2 projecting laterally on both sides thereof. As shown in Fig. 1, a flap 7 is upturned from the bracket 1, 2 to provide a hook-like support for a flanged shelf edge. A similar flap is welded to the opposite side of the bracket 1, 2. The flange 11, 12, 13 may comprise strip material secured to the sheet member 1, 2 and providing an opening to receive a hand whereby flange 11, 12, 13 forms a carrying handle for a shelf. Alternatively, Figs. 1-4 (not shown), the flange is formed by the bent edges of a trapezoidal sheet part in which no hand opening is provided. The shelf support means may alternatively comprise tongues 20 (Figs. 9, 10, no shown) pressed out alternately on opposite sides of the sheet part. The sheet and flange portions of the bracket may extend below the level of the shelf. The flange may be made of or coated with thermoplastic material.
