Abstract

1,017,331. Flexible hoses. B.T.R. INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 24, 1962 [July 17, 1961], No. 26779/61. Heading F2P. A flexible or semi-rigid hose comprises a woven textile jacket of natural and/or synthetic yarn having an inner lining of a polyamide resin which is bonded to the jacket by an adhesive composition. The jacket may be of cotton, nylon or " Terylene " (Trade Mark). The hose may have an outer abrasion-resisting cover which may be reinforced with metal or glass fibre. The Specification enumerates a number of polyamide resins, abrasion-resisting materials and adhesive compositions which may be used. The hose may be manufactured by coating the outer surface of a tube or layflat film of polyamide material with the adhesive, which is allowed to dry before the tube or film is inserted into the textile jacket with or without its abrasive-resisting cover in place. Steam or air and steam under pressure is then passed through the hose until the adhesive is cured to form a secure bond.
