Abstract

A building element formed from a mixture of an inorganic component containing sand and a synthetic thermosetting resin, the component being in the proportion of from 70-97% by weight, is provided with a decorative finish which may comprise a coating of a synthetic resin material. The various materials are exemplified in detail, the decorative coating comprising e.g. an epoxy resin with calcium carbonate as a filler, and the decorative coating itself may be protected with a sprayed transparent coating of an epoxy resin. The inorganic component may comprise sand mixed with crushed stones or fibrous material and the decorative coating is applied by brush, roller, squeegee, or by a fluidized bed method.
