Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:1016652/C2/1> wherein R1 represents a halogen atom, an alkoxy, aryloxy, alkylthio or arylthio group, or a group -NR3R4 in which R3 and R4 represent hydrogen atoms, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or aralkyl radicals, or jointly with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, a piperidine or morpholine ring; R2 represents a C6- 17 alkyl radical; "hal" represents chlorine or bromine and "lower alkyl" represents methyl or ethyl. The above compounds are prepared (1) by reacting equimolar amounts of an amine of the formula <FORM:1016652/C2/2> with a compound of the formula <FORM:1016652/C2/3> (2) by reacting a compound of the formula R2.hal with a compound of the formula <FORM:1016652/C2/4> or (3) by reacting a lower alkyl halide with a compound of the formula <FORM:1016652/C2/5>ALSO:A disinfectant composition suitable for the disinfection of skin, rooms, floors, cutlery, tableware, medical instruments, sickroom linens, sputum and excrements, or for incorporation into ointments, contains as the active ingredient a compound of the formula: <FORM:1016652/A5-A6/1> wherein R1 represents a halogen atom, an alkoxy, aryloxy, alkylthio or arylthio group, or a group -NR3R4 in which R3 and R4 represent hydrogen atoms, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or aralkyl radicals, or jointly with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, a piperidine or morpholine ring; R2 represents a C6-17 alkyl radical; "hal" represents chlorine or bromine and "lower alkyl" represents methyl or ethyl. Other ingredients present include water, organic solvents, powdery substances (for tablet forms), phenol, sodium nitrite or sodium octylhydroxyacetate (anti-rusting agents).
