Abstract

A rotary drum vacuum filter is provided with a composite endless belt passing around the drum and comprising an apertured supporting member of a material having sufficient mechanical strength to withstand distortion and ensure correct tracking, and a filtering medium secured to the supporting member. The supporting member may be of rubber or like material or of thin metal and may have frame-like apertures optionally occupied by drainage screens of open mesh material. The filtering medium may be secured in longitudinal and transverse grooves in the supporting member, or be secured thereto by adhesive, or be sandwiched between two supporting members.
