Abstract

<PICT:1015598/C1/1> In moulding glass to a generally frusto-pyramidal shape particularly for cathode-ray tube envelopes by centrifugal casting following initial pressing of a lower portion of the charge, as in Specifications 949,475 and 1,007,422, the plunger 20 is formed with generally concave recesses 20e centrally disposed within the sides 20d of the frusto-pyramidal surfaces to give more semi-molten glass in these areas for spreading during centrifuging. The plunger 20 also has the lowermost cylindrical portion 20a and frustoconical section 20b with projecting lugs 20c to give radial grooves in the final product.
