Abstract

1,015,448. Liquid filled mattresses. O. H. DRAGER, [trading at DRAGERWERK, HEINR & BERNH DRAGER]. Oct. 26, 1964 [Oct. 24, 1963], No. 43637/64. Heading A4M. A liquid filled mattress comprises two separate, interdigitated ducts 2a, 2b, 2c &c. and 3a, 3b, 3c &c. through which liquid is circulated by pumps 10, 12 at a temperature controlled by a heat exchanger 14, 21, the ducts 2a &c. and 3a &c. being alternately filled and emptied by being of a reversible air pump 22. The air pump 22 applies positive and negative pressures to water in chambers 11, 13 respectively whereby the duct systems 2a &c. and 3a &c. are respectively filled and emptied, the pump 22 being periodically reversed to reverse the process. The water is circulated respectively by the pumps 10, 12 out through conduits 4, 6 and back through conduits 8, 9 and 5, 7.
