Abstract

1,014,372. Riveting. W. H. C. BISHOP, and D. E. LOPEZ. July 27, 1964 [July 31, 1963], No. 30340/63. Heading B3U. [Also in Division A3] A device for use with a press for setting the complementary pairs of press buttons comprises a plate with a movable section with locations for the parts so that in one position one of the parts is picked up by a die nipple and in the other position the picked-up part is pressed by the die to engage the other part remaining on the movable section. The movable section 2 is moved against the action of a spring 9 to a position under the die nipple 16. The die nipple 16 is depressed by a foot treadle and picks up the socket 14 from a recess 12. The section 2 is allowed to return by the action of spring 9 to the position where the die nipple is over a socket cap 15 in a recess 13. The die nipple is again depressed, and presses the socket through a layer of fabric into the socket cap. The stud of the fastening is similarly set, the stud and socket being supported on nipples which may be removably located in the recesses 12 and 13 in the movable section 2.
