A thermal protective device wherein a bimetallic disc 15 co-operates with a fixed contact 17 having a silver contact surface is characterized in that the bimetallic disc is loaded by a cup spring 12, the convex part of which rests on the bottom of a housing 10. The cup spring is centred by a projection 11 on the bottom of the housing and has projections on its periphery to prevent lateral displacement of the disc 15
